How to Get SMBs to Share Contact Info

March 5, 2026

A critical question for many SMB marketers is how to get SMBs to provide their all-important contact details. Bredin’s survey of 500 U.S. SMB decision makers identifies what encourages SMBs share their information, and what keeps them from raising their hand.

Preferences vary by headcount and industry, but overall SMBs are more likely to share their contact information when sign-up forms are short and when previews of gated content are available.

Top motivators by company size:

  • Very small businesses (VSBs, with fewer than 20 employees): Short sign-up form
  • Small businesses (SBs, with 20 to 99 employees): Short sign-up form, ability to preview content, and exclusive research (tie)
  • Midsized businesses (MBs, with 100-500 employees): Ability to preview content
